Hey hey Wolf Girl here,
I've had a busy and fulfilling month packed with a variety of engaging activities. Inside the centre, there was a wonderful balance of relaxation and creative expression as I enjoyed mindfulness colouring, personal books, and practicing for the upcoming I Sing & I Dance performance.
The warm sensory room was a nice place to relax while watching movies - The Greatest Showman, Swamped, Peter Pan, and Bad Guys 2. When not relaxing my friends & I played a variety of games, helped out with the van washing.
Community outings and practical errands kept me highly active across the region. A trip to the Greerton Hall for Bay Active was a major highlight, which was easily paired with a couple of important tasks nearby, including delivering the red bag to the head office and enjoying some op-shopping. A trip to New World Gate Pa was made to gather the centre's groceries, and a special photography session was held where personal photos were carefully selected for printing. There were also plenty of fantastic opportunities for socialising and enjoying the sunshine & fresh air during visits to Morland Fox Park and Fraser Cove.
Giving back to the community makes me feel good, I have demonstrated this through many meaningful acts of service. Time was spent assisting at the Greerton Library and volunteering at the local op shop, alongside a heartwarming visit to the residents at Fraser Manor rest home. Showing great care for the environment, the group also teamed up with Max from Coast Care to help plant native plants directly into the sand dunes at the main Mount Maunganui beach.
The month wrapped up with a brilliant mix of education, nature exploration, and social events. Agricultural and business skills were put to the test by watching a mushroom growing tutorial, researching how to grow mushrooms back at the centre, and carefully counting and bagging kowhai seeds to sell for fundraising funds for our center. I enjoyed a classic sausage sizzle BBQ at Yatton Park, watched the horse racing at the Tauranga Racecourse, and headed out for a lovely lunch at the Citz Club with friends from the Connect 20 social group. Finally, a trip to IAnson Reserve in Te Puna offered a peaceful bush walk where I used binoculars to explore the environment and spot different local bugs and birds.
I look forward to many more fun times next month
